Thematic Monitoring

In the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme, the European Commission together with Leonardo National Agencies decided to conduct thematic monitoring activities in order:
  • to improve the exchange of information and knowledge between Leonardo projects across the participating countries
  • to increase the visibility of the programme across the participating countries
  • to carry out studies, produce documents and organise meetings to learn from lessons emerging from projects

  • to allow for the mainstreaming of results and findings into national and European vocational training and education structures
To monitor this work, five themes were determined according to the 2000-2002 call priorities and the Commissions current political priorities as regards vocational training. Each theme is managed by a group of National Agencies (NAs) and facilitated by a lead National Agency (NA).

European thematic monitoring activity comprises the following themes :

  1. Integration into the labour market (led by the Icelandic NA)
  2. Development of skills within companies, particularly SMEs (led by the Dutch NA)
  3. Adaptation of the training supply and new training methods quality of training (led by the UK NA)
  4. Transparency, assessment and validation of knowledge (led by the Italian NA) see also www.tg4transparency.com
  5. E-learning (led by the Danish NA)
